• Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient, referring any discrepancies to the Radiologist and contacting the ordering provider when necessary.
• Properly identify and assist patients, explaining the procedures and documenting on appropriate worksheets.
• Conduct thorough medical history interviews and review electronic medical records to obtain relevant clinical information.
• Assume responsibility for the exam from start to finish, preparing and administering IV contrast as needed.
• Evaluate the technical quality of images and consult with Radiologists if necessary, recognizing abnormal anatomy and processing additional images as instructed.
• Perform basic patient care functions and inform nursing personnel of any changes in patient condition, initiating life support measures when necessary.
• Assist physicians during invasive procedures and maintain knowledge of radiation safety standards, adhering to hospital fire and safety procedures.
• Operate the radiology computer system, entering orders and charging procedures and supplies, and maintain a neat and organized work area.Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or active enrollment in a ARMRIT or ARRT registry eligible program is required.
  • ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology, ARRT or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine with advanced registry from the ARMRIT or ARRT in MRI is required within one year of hire.
