Prepared Foods Department Supervisor

Job Description:

Assists with scheduling and supervision of Team Members. Oversees Prepared Foods, coffee, and juice displays. Supports Prepared Foods Team Leader to ensure smooth operation. Provides courteous service to customers and Team Members at all times. Performs duties in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Supports WFM core values and goals, promotes national and regional programs, and adheres to health and safety regulations.


  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members.
  • Works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train a high-performance team.
  • Assists in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials.
  • Keeps cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated.
  • Opens and closes department according to established procedures.
  • Ensures all necessary breaks are given.
  • Communicates team concerns to the Team Leader.
  • Sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution.
  • Fosters a positive environment of teamwork and exceptional morale.
  • Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members to satisfy and delight customers.
  • Selects, trains, develops, and motivates Team Members to sustain a high-performance team.
  • Provides timely performance evaluations.
  • Consistently communicates and models WFM vision and goals.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Knowledge of Prepared Foods team procedures and policies.
    • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
    • Product knowledge.
    • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
    • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance.
    • Demonstrated decision-making ability and leadership skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operations-related applications.

      Desired Work Experiences

      • 12+ months retail experience.

        Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

        • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
        • Standing/walking 6-8 hours.
        • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
        • Work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
        • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
        • Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
        • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
        • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
        • Ability to use tools and equipment.
