Job Summary

Perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operate CT Scanners and associated equipment with high proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment.

Essential Functions

• 
  
• Examine requests and verify orders on each assigned patient. Refer and question orders to the Radiologist before performing exam. Contact ordering provider when there are discrepancies.
  
• Properly identify patients and assist them while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepare patients for the procedure and document on appropriate worksheets.
  
• Interview patients for a complete medical history. Review patient records to obtain pertinent clinical history. Record medical history on requisitions.
  
• Assume responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion.
  
• Prepare and administer IV contrast according to departmental protocols.
  
• Evaluate image quality and consult with a Radiologist if needed.
  
• Perform basic patient care functions and inform nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition.
  
• Perform CT scanning and assist Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures.
  
• Practice proper sterile technique and radiation safety standards.
  
• Report malfunctioning equipment and maintain knowledge and skills required to work safely.
  
• Adhere to hospital fire and safety procedures and attend in-service classes.
  
• Perform work in an accurate and timely manner in crisis and emergency situations.
  
• Operate radiology computer system and maintain assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
  
  
  Physical Requirements
  
  Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation. Frequently may be required to stretch, bend twist, squat or kneel in the daily operation of the CT department.
