Job SummaryIn collaboration with the nurse manager, the charge nurse supervises staff and unit operations, providing direct patient care and ensuring the delivery of safe and quality patient care on the unit.

• Oversees patient care activities, including staff allocation and scheduling, patient assignments, rounds, and investigation/resolution of patient care issues.
• Provides direct patient care consistent with the charge nurse/clinical registered nurse job description accountabilities, maintaining all clinical competencies outlined.
• Performs patient experience activities, including role modeling, staff mentoring/coaching, patient rounds, service recovery, and problem resolution.
• Assists with continuing staff development, collaborating with clinical nurse educators to support new staff orientation and training.
• Performs administrative and quality management activities, ensuring unit compliance with departmental, regulatory, and safety standards.
• In collaboration with the nurse manager, performs human resources activities, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, coaching, and counseling staff.
• Assists in maintaining unit budget, allocating and utilizing resources appropriately.Supervisory/Management ResponsibilityThis role has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members, including final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility, and disciplinary authority.RequirementsRequires a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and 2 years of RN experience in the appropriate area of nursing. Current R.N. Licensure and previous management or supervisory experience are preferred.Work EnvironmentThis position is located at Marshall Pickens Hospital, working night shifts on the Adolescent Nursing Unit.
