Job SummaryClinical direction for patient care in acute inpatient settings, fostering patient-centered care. Demonstrates clinical competency using evidence-based practices in all areas of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes.Responsibilities

• Provides clinical direction for patient care in acute inpatient settings.
• Fosters patient-centered care.
• Demonstrates clinical competency using evidence-based practices.
• Coordinates and organizes tasks as appropriate.AccountabilitiesCollects data and completes nursing assessments using appropriate area and age-specific standards/policies and tools. Assesses and recognizes subtle or actual changes in patients' status and patient response to intervention. Develops individual plans of care based on the age and assessed needs of the patient.Patient Family Education/TeachingIdentifies patient/family learning needs and teaches accordingly by providing examples to clarify ideas, implementing and evaluating teaching plans, and communicating the patient/family's need for education/teaching to others in the healthcare continuum.Professional AccountabilityEvaluates own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standard guidelines, state statutes, policies, procedures, rules/regulations, and current specific knowledge. Maintains professional licensure and completes required mandatory education in a timely manner.Work EnvironmentThe acute inpatient setting usually requires staff to be scheduled for a significant amount of shift, weekend, holiday, and on-call work.
